"On the Beautiful Pithlachascotee River"

Today, Saturday June 12, 2010 the Pasco County OEM, Port Richey Mayor Richard Rober, chief of police and a group of 50+ citizens meet at City Hall to discuss and/or prepare for the oil encroaching on our beautiful West Pasco shorelines.

What is needed now is "EYES ON THE GULF" we need everyone to keep an eye out for any signs of oil. Eventually they believe we will get some tar balls, tar pies and some sheen or slick on the surface. Our plan is to get to it before it gets along our coastline. For that, we needd boaters to keep a watchful eye.

If you see any of these or any other material - write down the latitude and longitude, date, time and call the Coast Guard on VHF Channel 16. If you do not have a VHF radio and are in range call the info into any land line you can and ask them to call Pasco Office of Emergency Service (727) 847-8137 with the information.

We are our own First Line of Defense
